Getting Clear to Create Freedom

Jan 04, 2021

With a new year, we begin to look at reconnecting with ourselves, our goals, and our intentions for the year ahead.   Sometimes however it can be hard to know exactly where to start because we get so overwhelmed with where we are at.  One of the things that has helped me the most is getting clear on where I want to go so I can free myself of overwhelm. Think of it like traveling in a new place, yes you can wander about trying to navigate by yourself but it is going to be a little more challenging and take a little bit longer.  When you have a map however you can enjoy the journey a bit more and get there a little bit faster.

A lot of the training that I’ve taken, have talked about getting clear. So getting clear on who it is that I want to serve, who it is that I want to work with, and just get clear on what my vision is for my business.  The same is true for your personal life, you can divide your life into categories Health/Career/Lifestyle and so on and so forth.

One of the best ways to really get clear is to look back, look back at the past year, 6 months, or month whatever timeline you want.  Figure out what worked for me and what didn’t.  What were some of the patterns that I noticed in my life in these past years, or months?  You keep on learning a lesson until you get it and sometimes it can take a while before we finally notice and decide to stop a pattern.  For example, you have heard of a person in an abusive relationship, now let's say, that they finally get the courage to leave that relationship. But they still haven't learned what they needed to learn, so their next relationship might not be physically abusive, maybe it's verbally abusive or there's still something that that person needs to learn.  I know that's kind of a harsh example, but I think it's the one that people may relate to the most.

It is the same with anything we are needing to learn, whether it is about our own self-worth, self-love, being visible, and putting ourselves out there.  The lessons we need to learn, show up in all areas of our life.

When we look back and acknowledge how we felt you can begin to get clear on do I want to keep feeling this way or do I want to change it?  How do you want to feel in your life? And maybe you've never thought about that before. Do you want to feel more ease, joy, love abundance?  Do you want to feel luminous, rooted, connected?  You get to choose how you want to feel!

I am going to ask you again how do you want to feel in your life?  What works?  What doesn’t? What are you grateful for? Because no matter how good, bad, or ugly the past has been, it has still made you who you are today. You are still stronger because of it.  I know that in those shitty situations it can be hard to see the good but trust me there is value and importance of being immersed in that muck. You don't realize what is happening and what shifts you are making because you're in the trenches.   You're not looking at it from that bird's eye view. You're not seeing the bigger picture, or what is in store for you. So sometimes we have got to remind ourselves to look back and be thankful for what has brought us to where we are.

Look at the highs and the lows. What do you want more of? What can you stop doing? What is no longer serving your highest? So by examining these key areas, it helps to create a vision for how you want your life to look how you want your life to be, how you want your life to feel. All that is so important.

Quite often, when we talk about mindset, and don't get me wrong mindset is very important, but we forget to connect with how we want to feel.  I have been guilty of this myself, I would set goals, and I kind of had a negative connotation to them because I would just set them and not have any action with them.  I often would set the goal first and think it would bring me the feeling that I wanted but in fact, we have to be clear on how we want to feel first.

So by getting clear on where we want to go, who we want to be and how we want to feel we begin to clear the path on the next steps we need to take. This helps us to let go of some of the baggage that we're carrying with us.  When we don’t let go of things from the past it can be harder to step forward into who you are meant to be.

I invite you to sit and ponder that for a little bit. What do you need to clear the path from so that you can be free? To Let that light shine and be who you are meant to be? Grab your favourite journal or even a paper and a pen will do.  Start writing what comes to mind when you answer these questions and trust what comes up.
